Sexual Health (100BMC Southside)

Today the 100 BMC mentees had the opportunity to talk to Jamie Lowe, from Cook County Hospital, about the dangers of reckless sexual practices. Jamie's presentation showed the mentees what can happen when you participate in unprotected sex. More than 3 million teenaged girls have at least one sexually transmitted disease(STD),according to government studies. The most severely affected are African-American teens. In fact, 48 percent of African-American teenaged girls have an STD, compared with 20 percent of white teenaged girls.
While everyone agrees that abstinence is the best policy Jamie explained how important it is to use condoms in order to prevent STDs and unplanned pregnancies
