The 100 Black Men of Chicago, Annual Gala, May 12, 2012

On Saturday, May 12th, 2012, the culmination of our organization's hard work was showcased at our Annual Benefit Gala and Awards Program.  Hosted by comedian Damon Williams, the evening's theme was "Creating Opportunities, Changing Lives", and our honorees included Don Goens, President - FSH Communications; George Wright, Director Community Development - Citibank and Earl Jones, President and Market Manager – Clear Channel.  The mentee MCs selected to introduce the our honorees were, Christopher Calhoun, 11th Grade, Oak Park River Forest, Jared Brown, 9th Grade, Urban Prep, and Greg Loston, 11th Grade, Simeon.

The mentees were treated to a day of fun as they were treated to pizza and a movie ("The Avengers") early in the day, followed by stuffing gifts and then getting handsome and pretty in time to meet and greet the guests - making us so proud along the way.  Finally, they assisted in our live auction, in the evening's final event - which helped raise over $15,000 - $10,000 of which was matched by our generous sponsor - State Farm.  As the year with our mentees comes to a close, a special thanks goes out to mentors and volunteers that worked so hard that day:  Phillip Powell, Tim Turner, David Allen, Rodney McGee, and members, Kevin King, Warren McElroy, Andre Edmonds, Joe Hardy, Lennie Pulliam, and Roosevelt Moncure.  Great Job!
