Stock Trading Game Week One (100BMC Westside)

The Westside is showing how things are done, taking first and second place after one week of trading, winning a couple of gift cards too. The strategy they seem to be playing is the shopping and travel surge during the holiday season.

Introduction To Personal Finance (100BMC Southside)




Today the mentees received a presentation from 100 BMC member and Shore Bank VP, Daryl Newell. Daryll discussed the basics of personal banking including checking and savings accounts. Daryl also discussed the importance of discipline when it comes to saving and being able to forgoe frivilous purchases in favor of long term wealth.

Business Finance ( 100 BMC Southside)


Mentor Peter Delacy teaches the mentees about finance for the business plan competition. They covered Net Present Value (NPV) of money, Return On Investment (ROI), and financial statements such as: balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement. Finally, the Pro Forma, used for forecasting revenue and expenses was introduced.

Money & Banking Part 1 (100 BMC Aurora)


Students were presented with an overview about the importance of Money & Banking. The session's objective was to provide students with a basic understanding of money and the industry of banking. Topics defined and discussed were:
- What is money
- What are the advantages to banking
- Money and peer pressure to spend it
- Disposable income
- The difference between needs and wants
- Impulsive spending and its consequences
- Advantages of establishing a budget
- The difference between banks & credit unions
- Check writing & the advantages to maintaining an accurate register/log

Students were given 10 questions, pertaining to the presentation, to answer and turn in.
