This weekend we hosted a joint session with the Deltas (http://chicagodeltas.com/) and their mentees to learn Capoeira, a form of marshal arts from Brazil, set to drumming and without physical contact between the two partners. Gingarte Capoeira (http://gingartecapoeira.org/) sent us two instructors: Patrick Cameron (Sem Igual) and Amani Conley (Girafa) to teach the Delta and 100BMC mentees basic movements, the history, the music, and some sparing techniques. Thanks to: Dr. Reggee McClinton, Tanya Towns, Valerie Coleman, and a special thanks to Ashley Allen for the partnership and Todd Barnett for use of Donoghue Elementary School.
