- On Saturday, August 25, 2012, the 100 Black Men of Chicago, Inc. participated in the DuPage County NAACP's College Readiness Program at Neuqua Valley High School in Naperville. Representing the 100BMC were Al Demming, John Holloway and Tyrone Thompson. The purpose of the fair was to give youth and their parents opportunities to enhance their college preparedness, learn the value of servicing the community, obtain information about scholarships, and continue to be groomed into stellar youth via several enrichment programs. The event ran from 8:00am until 2:00pm and serviced over 650 student and adult attendees. Students and parents that stopped by the table were given an overview of the organization, provided information and "save-the-date" materials pertaining to our 10th Annual College Scholarship Fair (CSF) on October 13, 2012 at UIC, and the re-launch of our West Suburban Mentoring Program, to start Saturday, October 20th at the Quad County Urban League in Aurora. Forty-seven (47) students and parents signed-up, indicating their interest in our upcoming Mentoring Program. Twenty-five (25) students whose GPAs and ACT scores met our previous CSF Honor Student Reception program criteria (GPA = 3.3 or better & ACT = 23 or better) signed up to be notified when details are released. A special thanks goes out to our West Suburban Mentoring contingent, as they are well on their way to a productive year!
